Kristen Creecy – Founder of Artistic Corner

I am Kristen Creecy, 33 years old, and a native of Minnesota but after needing a change from the cold winters, I decided to make that bold move to Tennessee after graduating college where I began working in the mortgage industry. Unfortunately my knowledge and skills in the financial industry didn’t get into my hard head as I struggled with by own finances from debt, financial pressures, and even homelessness. Embarrassing I know, but that’s my story, and how this was started from those hardships. I have learned to be joyful in these tough days. This business was started while in a homeless shelter.

I honestly learned about life and acceptance during a time when rejection has won over my life. I found the True Life – Jesus Christ. He taught me everything while on the bottom, sleeping in my car and in shelters. When everyone else gave up on me, He was still there. He still loved me regardless of what I had done. I experienced joy while in the midst of darkness. I wasn’t rejected anymore. I was accepted by Him.

I have always had a passion of bringing hope and encouragement to the world as well as the arts and being creative. When I was 15, I remember that was the start of looking up positive quotes and to keep the hope going. I was stuck in depression, anxiety, and so much bondage. What got me through was seeing the good instead. Sometimes, it was a major fight to endure. Over time, I discovered Jesus and became born again, and discovered the true Source of hope and positivity. I also discovered who the source of struggles were: the devil and believing his lies. I had to get over my flesh as well and that was a full time job as much as fighting the devil. The closer I got to my Father God and Bridegroom, He gave me more strength to endure. He healed my heart. He gave me strength to endure every day. My favorite verse at this time is I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength. His strength brought me through many hard days.

I was awakened back to art and creativity through an invitation to be a background extra of a popular television show – can’t say yet since it’s still in production at the time of this writing. That experience has shown me just how much that I had missed being in the creative environment and being surrounded by like-minded people. This was the start of a journey that I was getting myself back into.

Through it all, art was still always there. Art got me through so much. Even when I couldn’t afford it, just going through the arts and crafts aisles were enough therapy to keep me going. There was something about art that pushed me through. God put this desire in my heart for a reason. Ever since I was a small child, I have always loved creating art. Now that fear and anxiety are behind me, I’m excited for this next season ahead.

My passion is to spread as much hope and encouragement in a creative mode as I can in such a negative world, especially to others who have felt abandoned the most. Life is too short to be negative. The only negatives that should be allowed is for the camera! 🙂
